~ New Rochelle, NY- As the nation prepares to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the city of New Rochelle has announced a series of ceremonies to honor and remember those who lost their lives on that fateful day. The New Rochelle Fire Department will hold a Remembrance Ceremony at 9:59AM at Fire Station 1 on Harrison Street. During this ceremony, members of the department will read and honor the names of the 343 FDNY members who were killed in the line of duty. The ceremony will begin at the exact time that the first tower fell.
At 11:30 AM, a Remembrance Ceremony will be held at New Rochelle City Hall's front lawn on North Avenue. This ceremony will feature members from both the New Rochelle Police Department and Fire Department. In honor of this solemn day, a Garrison flag will be installed between the front pillars of City Hall on September 10.

The United Veterans Memorial & Patriotic Association will also be hosting a Candlelight Vigil at American Legion Post 8 on North Avenue at 7:30 PM. Additional parking will be available across the street in the church parking lot. This vigil is open to all and aims to bring together members of the community to remember and honor those who lost their lives on September 11th.
All are welcome to attend these ceremonies as New Rochelle pays tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11th, 2001. Let us never forget their bravery and heroism in the face of tragedy.
