Event Under the Artistic Direction of Germaine McCormack Kós

NEW YORK - Nyenta -- The beautiful church of Saint Jean de Malte (Place St. Jean de Malte, 13100 Aix-en-Provence, France) will be the location of an extraordinary concert of global interest by the Japanese-American virtuoso pianist Alexander Kato-Willis. Performing during a gala evening organized to benefit cancer research on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 9:00 p.m., the event is under the artistic direction of Germaine McCormack-Kós.
All profits will be donated to the Paoli-Calmettes Institute – IPC Marseille.
The event is in partnership with the Mairie d'Aix-en-Provence, the LIONS CLUB Aix Cézanne Doyen, France Bleu Provence, La Provence, and the associations Artessimo, CinéZooms and Japon'Aix.

Alexander Kato-Willis has toured to high acclaim as a soloist across Europe, the United States, and Asia. Radio France called his Paris debut "radically refreshing," and NPR dubbed his music "an inspiration." In 2019, Kato-Willis was the winner of the Most Distinguished Musician prize at the IBLA International Competition in Sicily. He has composed the score of the film Thanks to Your Noble Shadow. Kato-Willis was awarded Highest Distinction for both his doctoral and master's degrees from the University of Southern California.

Germaine McCormack-Kós' love for the arts has propelled her to spend most of her life creating in film, music, art, and children's opera around the world.
An accomplished painter and sculptor, her  film career started when London was still swinging, working in script development for Hollywood producer Sam Spiegel at Horizon Pictures, and collaborating with Laslo Benedek (The Wild One) on film projects. She then worked for producer Peter Watkins (The War Game), and directors Robert Young (Jane Eyre), and Ken Annakin (Battle of the Bulge). She was the Executive Producer of Black Water for Prodigy Movies, and also made short documentaries, including Why This War.

She founded Dublin Children's Opera, the first children's opera company in Dublin, and produced two original operas. Renowned composer George Fenton (Gandhi, Dangerous Liaisons) composed one of these operas and is the composer for her documentary, WALK ON THE WILD SIDE, a feature documentary she directed and produced, now available on Amazon Prime – US/UK/France. In the mid 90's, she was on the team that launched Women in Film France in Cannes.
