NEW YORK, Aug. 7, 2024 ~ As a leader in data security, compliance, privacy, and AI data management, BigID has announced an expanded partnership with Cohesity. This partnership will empower organizations to identify and take action against critical data risks and vulnerabilities across their backup and recovery processes.
The new developments from this partnership will provide organizations with unparalleled visibility, context, and control over their sensitive data. This will significantly improve data security and risk management at an enterprise scale. With this new integration, organizations can pinpoint sensitive data, identify potential exposure issues related to backup and recovery, and take appropriate remediation measures to mitigate risk.
BigID is a founding member of the Cohesity Data Security Alliance and has extended its existing integration within Cohesity's DataHawk. This new integration will give organizations comprehensive visibility into the location of sensitive data and potential exposure issues related to backup and recovery.

Through this partnership, BigID and Cohesity aim to deliver a comprehensive approach towards managing and protecting sensitive data from unwanted exposure. Joint customers will be able to rapidly identify and secure sensitive data by discovering and mapping sources with or without existing backup policies. This streamlines the process of identifying sensitive data that lacks proper security controls so that necessary safeguards can be implemented swiftly.
Additionally, the partnership aims to simplify compliance by providing a clear picture of data risks, vulnerabilities, and existing security controls. This empowers organizations to identify gaps between their data protection practices and compliance requirements, ensuring a robust security posture.
Furthermore, the integration allows for proactive data security and risk management by maintaining visibility into sensitive data across the environment. This enables organizations to quickly address potential exposure risks and vulnerabilities by proactively applying remediation actions and security controls.

While the initial integration focuses on providing visibility into sensitive data exposure, BigID is committed to expanding its partnership with Cohesity towards building proactive and automated remediation against data risks.
Shay Azulay, Senior Director of Security Products at BigID expressed excitement about this next step in the partnership, stating, "BigID and Cohesity share a vision of providing proactive Data Security Posture Management with not only visibility into sensitive data exposures but also proactive, automated remediation. We are excited about this next step that we have embarked on together."
Sheetal Venkatesh, Senior Director of Data Security Products at Cohesity, emphasized the importance of quickly and effectively responding to cyber attacks on critical data sets. She stated, "Customers can achieve that rapid response during an attack only if they identify exposures and proactively adjust data protection policies and practices before an attack. Our joint customers can address both scenarios through Cohesity's integration with BigID's Data Security Posture Management capabilities."
