NEW YORK - Nyenta -- From January 23 to 26, members and attendees will gather in Times Square, New York City, to celebrate the annual CCME symposium. This is a milestone year for CCME, as it is the 50th anniversary of the organization.
The Council of College and Military Educators was founded in the early 1970s as a small group of Education Services Officers (ESOs) who sought to better serve the needs of their college-seeking military personnel. The first official gathering occurred in 1973 with the California Community Colleges and Military Educators Association. The following symposium was held in San Francisco. In 1994, the organization officially changed its name to the Council of College and Military Educators (CCME). Since then, the goal of CCME has remained focused on addressing the needs and challenges of military students and fostering strong relationships with educational institutions and the Department of Defense educational support network in order to provide the best possible educational services and experiences to the military community.
