WASHINGTON - Nyenta -- From July 29 through July 31, 2024, the Joint Conferences of Catholic Clergy assembled with a unified purpose to strengthen and cooperate in preserving the future of Black Catholics and Black religious practices. This momentous gathering marked a significant milestone in the ongoing quest for unity and empowerment within the Black Catholic community, symbolizing a shared dedication to safeguarding their heritage and traditions.

Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, collaboration, and collective discernment, these esteemed organizations have joined forces to pave the way forward for a more united and inclusive community. By embracing the spirit of synodality, they seek to amplify the voices of Black Catholics, foster dialogue and mutual respect, and promote a culture of shared decision-making and responsibility.

Synodality is a fundamental principle embraced by various religious groups, emphasizing the collaborative process of decision-making and fostering unity among their members. This principle holds great significance for these religious communities as they endeavor to fortify their interconnections, promote open and respectful dialogue, and cultivate a culture of inclusivity within their respective congregations. Father Steven Bell's presentation on the "Significance of Synodality" helped to focus the discussions, galvanize relationships, and broaden the perspectives of all attendees.
