"This is the most vulnerable thing I've ever written," said Martínez. "It's for every kid who translated at the doctor's office, for anyone who's ever loved in Spanglish, or who's ever been told they had to shrink to fit in."

The book is published under VOZ NYC, a new cultural imprint founded by Martínez to amplify intersectional, bilingual, and community-rooted stories.
"We created VOZ to champion the voices we didn't grow up reading," said the VOZ NYC editorial team. "José's book is more than a debut, it's a declaration."
Martínez shared a first look at the book during a VIP panel at the New York Mobile Film Festival, where he joined a lineup of creators discussing storytelling in television, representation, and reclaiming narrative power.
