NEW YORK - Nyenta -- NEW YORK, NY — Emmy Award-winning journalist and storyteller José Martínez will unveil his debut book, Your English is Great, But…, at the New York Mobile Film Festival this Thursday, July 10, the same day the book becomes officially available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.
Hosted at Regal Union Square, the special VIP First Look event includes a live reading and an on-stage conversation on storytelling in television, where Martínez will join a panel of award-winning creators dedicated to media representation and immigrant voices.
Your English is Great, But… is a bold, bilingual memoir-in-essays that unpacks how language, identity, and belonging shape the first-gen experience in America. From covering national newsrooms to confronting microaggressions with humor and heart, Martínez weaves stories that speak to anyone who's ever been underestimated for how they speak — or who they are.

"This project is about reclaiming voice — for me, and for anyone who's ever been told their accent or grammar made them 'less than,'" said Martínez.
The book is published by VOZ NYC, a new imprint committed to elevating underrepresented voices.
"We created VOZ to champion stories that haven't been given a mic — the ones that reflect the heart of our communities. José's book is a powerful and personal example of that mission, and we're honored to be bringing it to life," said the editorial team at VOZ NYC.
