Needs Community-at-Large Support to Sustain Vital Arts Programs
NEW YORK - Nyenta -- The Children's Art Carnival (CAC) celebrates 55 years as a cultural icon in Harlem, but this beloved institution is at a critical juncture. Founded in 1969 by Betty Blayton Taylor, CAC has long been a beacon for arts and culture in the community. From nurturing young talents who have gone on to achieve international recognition to hosting groundbreaking exhibitions that have drawn visitors from around the world, CAC has a rich history of success. However, it now needs the support of the community at large to sustain its vital arts programs.
Despite being integral to Harlem's cultural landscape, the Children's Art Carnival (CAC) faces pressing financial challenges. These include a significant decrease in critical grant support, impacting our ability to provide affordable arts workshops for community members, and engagement activities for young people and families. The organization is now at a crucial point. In response, CAC is launching fundraising efforts, including a GoFundMe campaign, to ensure its continued operation and preserve its legacy. Your support is needed to keep the Children's Art Carnival alive. Every donation counts.

Michael Unthank, Interim Chair of the Board of Trustees, emphasized the importance of CAC in today's world: "The Children's Art Carnival is a critical community resource, especially now. Despite funding setbacks this fiscal year, we remain committed to providing outstanding programs such as Push & Pull, our workshop series in partnership with the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. The series reflects the legacy of our founder to bring premier artists and programming to our community."
The Children's Art Carnival (CAC) is more than just an institution. It is a catalyst for community enrichment, transforming the lives of countless individuals. With a diverse range of programs, including participatory community arts workshops, gallery exhibitions featuring local artists, and opportunities for professional artistic development, CAC significantly contributes to the cultural vibrancy of Harlem. It's a place where many are proud to call home.
The Children's Art Carnival needs your support. The fundraising goal is to raise $25,000 to cover the costs of maintaining the building, providing materials for workshops, and supporting the staff. The GoFundMe page is live and donations are welcome and appreciated. We are deeply grateful for your contribution, no matter the amount.
