YONKERS, NY ~ Mayor Mike Spano of Yonkers, NY announced on July 19th that the Yonkers Office for the Aging will be distributing farmers market coupons to qualified seniors. The coupons will be available at the Office for the Aging from August 7th to 8th from 9AM to 3PM at the Chema Community Center, 435 Riverdale Ave.
In order to qualify for the coupons, seniors must be 60 years or older and have a monthly income of $2,248 or less for a one person household; $3,041 or less for a two person household and $3,833 or less for a three person household. Each older adult in a household is eligible to receive a booklet if they meet the age and income requirements. Photo ID is required as proof of address and age.

The coupons can be used in many Farmer's Markets in Westchester County including St. John's Church in Yonkers which is open Thursdays from 7AM to 3PM (July 6-October 26). Mayor Spano encourages seniors to take advantage of this money-saving service that will allow them to purchase fresh produce and products while contributing to local farms.
The Senior Farmers Market Program is funded through the Food and Nutrition Service division of the United States Department of Agriculture and Markets in cooperation with the NY State Office for the Aging, NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets and the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services.
