~ New Rochelle residents now have the opportunity to get an inside look at their local police department through the Citizen Police Academy. The New Rochelle Police Department has officially opened registration for this program, which will run for ten consecutive Wednesday nights starting on March 13, 2024.
The Citizen Police Academy aims to strengthen the relationship between the community and law enforcement by providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the department and its operations. Instructors from various divisions within the department, including the police commissioner, division commanders, detectives, and officers, will lead classes and share their expertise.

According to officials, the academy's goal is to promote increased interaction between New Rochelle police officers and citizens. This program will not only educate residents about law enforcement but also encourage them to engage with their local police force.
Interested individuals can obtain an application by contacting P.O. Wallach at the PACT Unit at (914) 654-2320 / 2323. The deadline for applications is March 1st, and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can also be downloaded from the NRPD website or picked up at the Police Desk located at 475 North Avenue in New Rochelle.
