~ New Rochelle Youth Bureau Offers Summer Employment Opportunities for Local Youth and Young Adults
The New Rochelle Youth Bureau is currently accepting applications for their Summer Employment Programs, providing an opportunity for youth and young adults in the community to gain valuable work experience. The programs, which run for six weeks during July and August, offer 20 or 25 hours of work per week and pay $16.00 per hour. The deadline to apply is May 10th.
According to Kelly Johnson, Executive Director of the Youth Bureau, the organization is excited to offer a diverse range of engaging programs and services this summer. These programs aim to equip local teens and young adults with job readiness skills and provide them with actual work experience.
One of the programs available is the Summer Youth Employment Program, which is open to individuals between the ages of 14-24. This program requires income eligibility and offers payments of $320.00 per week based on 20 hours of work per week.
The TANF Summer Youth Employment Program is also available for youth between the ages of 14-20 who meet TANF income guidelines. This program offers payments of $400.00 per week based on 25 hours of work per week and is funded by the Westchester/Putnam Local Workforce Investment Board (contingent upon funding).

For young adults between the ages of 18-24, there is the Potential Candidates Internship Program which provides internships in governmental departments, local community-based agencies, and/or programs. This program does not have any income eligibility requirements and is funded in part by the New York State Office of Children & Family Service (contingent upon current State funding).
Additionally, there is also an 'Access Equestrian' Employment Program available for youth with special needs between the ages of 14-21. This program offers job readiness skills training and actual work experience without any income eligibility requirements.
The Learn & Earn Program is open to youths between the ages of 14-18 and offers specialized programs in various career areas. Proof of income is required for this program. Some of the programs offered include NRYB Girls on Fire Firefighter Program, Mentors in Blue Police Academy, Future CEOs Entrepreneurship Program, Ecology Ambassadors, Visual Arts 101, and Muse Masterpiece.
Applications for all programs can be obtained from the Youth Bureau office at 515 North Avenue, New Rochelle or online at www.newrochelleny.com/youthjobs. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 10th.
