~ New Rochelle Opens Applications for Zoning Board of Appeals Vacancy

The city of New Rochelle has announced that it is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals. This important role is open to residents with experience in zoning, planning, and land use.

According to the city's press release, the Zoning Board of Appeals is responsible for reviewing and approving applications requesting appeals to zoning requirements such as height, bulk, floor area, coverage, setbacks to property lines, lot area, and use variances. Interested candidates are encouraged to refer to Article XV, Board of Appeals on Zoning, of the New Rochelle City Code for a full list of duties and responsibilities.

The board consists of seven members who are appointed for a three-year term by the City Manager. This is an unpaid volunteer position and members will be required to conduct site visits of properties under application prior to each month's meeting. Annual training will also be mandatory.

To apply for this position, interested individuals can submit a resume and cover letter through the City website or download an application from the website. The completed application along with a cover letter and resume must be returned in person to the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall during business hours from Monday to Friday between 8:30AM and 4:30PM. All applications must include name, address, contact information, qualifications and interest in serving.

The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, April 10 at noon PM. The city urges all qualified individuals who are interested in serving their community in this capacity to apply before the deadline.
