New Rochelle: Attempted Robbery on Franklin Avenue – Robbery Arrest Made

~ New Rochelle Detectives have made an arrest in connection to a robbery that occurred on October 9th, 2024. The suspect, a 17-year-old male juvenile from New Rochelle, was taken into custody on October 17th.

According to the New Rochelle Police Department, the suspect has been charged with first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. These charges fall under New York State Penal Law Sections 160.15 and 265.01 respectively.

The attempted robbery took place on Franklin Avenue around 7:00pm. The victim, a 66-year-old female resident, reported that she was approached by a Hispanic male who displayed a silver handgun and demanded her belongings. However, the victim's screams caused the suspect to flee the scene. He was last seen running into the Harbor House property before disappearing from sight.

Thankfully, the victim was not harmed and did not lose any of her belongings. Despite officers canvassing the area, they were unable to locate the suspect at that time. However, detectives have since been assigned to the case and are actively investigating.
