~ New Rochelle, NY- The City of New Rochelle is proud to announce the start of DPW Week with an exciting Touch-a-Truck event on Monday, May 20th. The event will take place in front of City Hall, located at 515 North Avenue from 4-7pm. This event marks the beginning of National Public Works Week, which is celebrated from May 19-25. This year's theme, "Advancing Quality of Life for All", highlights the important contributions made by Public Works professionals in the communities they serve.
The Touch-a-Truck event invites members of the community to come and explore various Public Works vehicles and equipment while interacting with the employees who operate them. In addition to this, attendees can enjoy inflatables, arts and crafts, food trucks and more. This fun-filled evening is a great opportunity for families and friends to learn about the crucial work done by Public Works professionals.

The Department of Public Works is one of the largest departments in the City, consisting of multiple bureaus such as Administration, Central Garage, Engineering, Property & Grounds, Sanitation & Recycling, Sewers & Drains, Streets & Highways and Traffic Services. Each bureau plays a critical role in ensuring that the City runs smoothly. "Our dedicated teams within the Department of Public Works provide vital services year-round," stated Acting City Manager and Public Works Commissioner Wilfredo Melendez. "This year's theme recognizes their indispensable role in supporting every neighborhood in the City." Throughout Public Works Week, photos and videos of DPW staff will be featured on the City's social media accounts.
National Public Works Week celebrates the contributions made by Public Works professionals who focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are essential for sustainable and resilient communities. Sponsored by American and Canadian Public Works Associations, this year marks its 64th annual observance.
