EVENT PHOTOS ~ New Rochelle, NY- On Thursday, March 28, the City of New Rochelle celebrated Irish Heritage Month with a grand gala event. The event, held at City Hall's Rotunda Gallery, was a tribute to the community's deep cultural heritage and spirit.
The evening began with a diverse culinary sampling featuring dishes from popular local establishments such as Beechmont Tavern, Lawton St. Tavern, Spectators Sports Pub, and New Rochelle Bakery. Attendees were treated to a variety of entertaining performances that paid homage to Irish heritage. The McGough Academy's Irish step dancers wowed the crowd with their traditional dance routines while Lt. Downs of the New Rochelle Police Department played the bagpipes and Cate Sandstrom showcased her fiddle skills.
The highlight of the night was the honoring of Spectators Sports Pub co-owners Steve Morris and Gary Torigian for their decades of commitment, community spirit, and philanthropy in New Rochelle. As a family-run business since 1981, Spectators has been an integral part of the community and downtown district. Their mission to give back locally has been evident through their regular donations to various city organizations and hosting charitable events for local not-for-profits and foundations such as the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and local sports programs.
