New Rochelle: Gun Arrest - Shots Fired

~ New Rochelle Police responded to a call about a shots fired incident on July 27th, 2024 at approximately 11:05pm. The incident occurred in the area of 361 Main Street and a suspect vehicle was quickly identified through police investigation.

At 11:15pm, detectives located the suspect vehicle entering the New Roc City parking garage from Harrison Street. The two occupants of the vehicle were detained while officers searched for evidence related to the shooting. A .380 shell casing was found near the lower parking lot of 361 Main Street and a loaded .380 firearm was discovered on Fountain Place.

Further investigation revealed that one shot had been fired from the lower parking lot towards the upper parking lot where a large group of people were gathered. Detectives obtained additional information that led to the arrest of one of the vehicle's passengers for the shooting.

The suspect has been identified as Raymond Gilkes, a 37-year-old resident of New Rochelle, NY. He has been charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a D Felony under New York State Penal Law Section 120.25, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a C Felony under Section 265.03.
