~ New Rochelle, NY- On January 6th, 2025, at approximately 10:49am, the New Rochelle Police Department responded to a fatal shooting at the Heritage Homes Complex on Rhoda Quash Lane. According to reports received by the department, shots were fired in the area and officers arrived on the scene to find a 22-year-old male victim from Mt Vernon, NY with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.

The victim, identified as David Smith, was immediately given emergency medical aid by responding officers before being transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead. New Rochelle detectives were also quick to arrive at the scene and began their investigation.

Through their initial investigation, detectives were able to identify several persons of interest and brought them in for questioning at New Rochelle Police Headquarters. One suspect was apprehended later in the Bronx when seeking medical treatment for a gunshot wound to his hand. He was taken into custody without incident.

Preliminary information suggests that there was a personal dispute between the shooter and the victim, who knew each other. However, the nature of this dispute is still unknown at this time. Multiple handguns were found in relation to this case and further information on these weapons will be released in a subsequent press release.

The New Rochelle Police Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any relevant information to come forward and contact the Detective Division at (914) 654-2300. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through their confidential tip line at (914) 632-COPS.

21-year-old Marquis Williamson of Newark, NJ and 21-year-old Amiri Oneal of Mt Vernon, NY have been arrested in connection with this shooting. They are both facing charges under New York State Penal Law Section 125.25 for second-degree murder which is classified as an A-1 felony.

Additionally, 20-year-old Anthony Webster of Mt Vernon, NY has also been arrested and is facing charges under New York State Penal Law Sections 265.03 for criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, which is classified as a C felony, and 265.02 for criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, which is classified as a D felony.

The New Rochelle Police Department is continuing their investigation into this tragic incident and asks for the community's cooperation in providing any information that may aid in their efforts.
