New Rochelle Launches "Community Conversations" on Substance Abuse, Mental Health

~ The City of New Rochelle is taking a proactive step in combating the opioid and drug crisis with the launch of "Community Conversations", a series of monthly meetings hosted in neighborhoods throughout the city.

The meetings will be facilitated by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency-Westchester and will take place on Thursdays from 6-8PM. The format will be an open dialogue, beginning in September and continuing through the end of the year. The locations for these meetings are Bracey Apartments, Young Israel of New Rochelle, Parkside Place, and Mascaro Boys and Girls Club.

City Manager Kathleen Gill said, "These neighborhood meetings provide an ongoing opportunity for residents get the information they need to recognize signs of addition and mental health struggles, learn strategies to help their loved ones, and find out what each of us can do to raise the level of health and safety in our community."
