~ New Rochelle, NY - On January 6th, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred in the Heritage Homes Complex on Rhoda Quash Lane, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old male from Mt. Vernon, NY. The New Rochelle Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 10:49 am and upon arrival, discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.

The victim has been identified as David Smith, and responding officers immediately provided emergency medical aid until he was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. New Rochelle detectives quickly arrived at the scene and began their investigation.

Preliminary information suggests that the shooter and the victim were acquainted and that the incident may have stemmed from a personal dispute. However, the nature of this dispute is currently unknown. Multiple handguns were found in relation to this case, and further details on these weapons will be released in a subsequent press release.

As part of their investigation, New Rochelle detectives identified several persons of interest and brought them in for questioning at New Rochelle Police Headquarters. One suspect was also apprehended when seeking medical treatment for a gunshot wound to his hand in the Bronx. He was taken into custody without incident.

The New Rochelle Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any relevant information to come forward and contact the Detective Division at (914) 654-2300. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department's confidential tip line at (914) 632-COPS.

21-year-old Marquis Williamson from Newark, NJ has been arrested in connection with this shooting along with 21-year-old Amiri Oneal from Mt. Vernon, NY. Both individuals are facing charges under New York State Penal Law Section 125.25 for second-degree murder - an A-1 felony.

Additionally, 20-year-old Anthony Webster from Mt. Vernon, NY has also been arrested and is facing charges under New York State Penal Law Sections 265.03 for criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree - a C felony, and 265.02 for criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree - a D felony.

The New Rochelle Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with their ongoing investigation into this tragic incident.
