Residents and park ~ Residents of New Rochelle are encouraged to take part in the annual Parks Clean-up Weekend, taking place on April 22nd and 23rd. The event is a joint effort between Volunteer New York! and the City of New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department, and provides community members with an opportunity to volunteer their time and show civic pride during Earth Day Weekend.
Volunteers will be assigned various tasks such as trail maintenance, trash removal, playground and beach cleanup, among others. There are 13 different projects planned for this weekend of service, allowing residents to choose which park they would like to support.
Those interested in participating can register by visiting volunteernewyork.org/newrochelle or calling 914-948-4452 for more information. An adult must accompany volunteers between 5 and 16 years old, while group and team registrations are also available.

Vin Parise, New Rochelle Commissioner of Parks & Recreation said: "This city-wide Parks Clean-up Weekend is a great way for residents to play a part in preparing our parks for the increase of visitors that occurs during the warmer months."
Jeanette Gisbert, Executive Director of Volunteer New York!, added: "We are always in awe of the amazing volunteers that come out for the Parks Clean-Up Weekend and the amount of positive change that is accomplished during this timeframe."
The 13 sites throughout New Rochelle that will be hosting clean up events include Davenport Park, Feeney Park, Five Islands Park, Glenwood Lake, Hudson Park, Neptune Park, Huguenot Park, Leatherstocking Trail, Maplewood Park, Pinebrook Park, Ward Acres Park Lincoln Park and Ryan Sinkfield Park.
Residents are encouraged to take part in this event as it provides an opportunity to give back to their community while also enjoying some outdoor activities during Earth Day Weekend.
