~ New Rochelle, NY - On the evening of March 18, 2025, the New Rochelle Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a fire in the parking spaces behind the CVS pharmacy on Lawton Street. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that two vehicles were engulfed in flames and immediately called for assistance from the New Rochelle Fire Department.
After extinguishing the blaze, fire officials alerted police that the incident appeared to be suspicious. Further investigation revealed that a dark-colored BMW SUV, registered to Mark Turner, was the source of the fire. The flames then spread to an adjacent SUV, resulting in both vehicles being completely destroyed.
Witnesses reported seeing a male dressed in all black near the scene before the fire broke out. According to their accounts, the individual was seen moving between the BMW and a nearby trash receptacle multiple times before smoke began billowing from the vehicle. The male then calmly walked away from the scene as the BMW became fully engulfed.

In response to this information, officers conducted a search of the area and were able to locate Mr. Turner based on a physical description provided by witnesses. When questioned by authorities, Mr. Turner admitted to being the driver of the BMW.
Detectives and fire investigators were called to process the scene and collect evidence. As a result of their findings, Mr. Turner was taken into custody without incident.
The New Rochelle Police Department is urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward and contact them at (914) 654-2300. The investigation is ongoing and charges have been filed against Mr. Turner for arson in third degree and criminal mischief in second degree under New York State Penal Law Sections 150.10 and 145.10 respectively.
Mr. Turner, aged 55 and a resident of New Rochelle, NY has been arrested in connection with this incident. He is currently facing charges for his alleged involvement in setting fire to the two vehicles.
