New Rochelle: Police Arrest Suspect in Early Morning Assault Near Main St Gas Station

~ New Rochelle, NY- In the early hours of March 24th, 2025, New Rochelle Police responded to a reported assault near the intersection of Main Street and Woodland Avenue. According to reports, the incident occurred around 3:25am near a gas station.

Upon arrival, responding officers found a 27-year-old male victim who claimed he was walking home from the Drake Main Café when he encountered two males entering the gas station. A verbal altercation ensued and quickly turned physical. During the confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly used a scalpel to slash the victim's face, causing a severe laceration that required stitches. The victim was immediately taken to a local hospital for medical treatment and is currently in recovery.

Detectives were called in to lead the investigation and were able to develop leads on a possible suspect vehicle. With assistance from the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center (RTC), authorities were able to track down and locate the vehicle later that morning.

As a result of this information, detectives were able to apprehend Tyreek Brown, 29 years old from Bronx, NY without incident. Brown is believed to be the primary suspect responsible for carrying out the slashing and has been charged with Assault 2nd Degree under New York State Penal Law Section 120.05.

The second male involved in the altercation has also been identified by police and they are currently working to determine his role in the incident.

New Rochelle Police are urging anyone with additional information about this incident to come forward and contact them at (914) 654-2300 or anonymously at (914) 632-COPS.

This is an ongoing investigation and more details will be released as they become available.
