~ New Rochelle, NY - On Saturday evening, March 15, 2025, a physical dispute at a gas station located at the intersection of North Avenue and Lincoln Avenue resulted in the arrest of two individuals by officers from the New Rochelle Police Department.

According to reports, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a call about a physical altercation at the gas station. Upon arrival, they were directed to a gray Subaru attempting to leave the scene. The driver of the vehicle was visibly injured and reported being struck in the head with a metal object during the dispute.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, other officers at the gas station identified Chesterfield Bowen, a 60-year-old resident of New Rochelle, as the other party involved in the dispute. Mr. Bowen was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation revealed that Mr. Bowen was responsible for assaulting the victim. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Assault in the First Degree - a B felony under New York State Penal Law.

As officers were dealing with Mr. Bowen's arrest, family and friends of the victim arrived at the scene and became agitated. Among them was Calvin Holder, 31 years old and also from New Rochelle. In full view of responding officers, Mr. Holder was observed breaking off the side mirror of Mr. Bowen's vehicle.

He was immediately arrested for Criminal Mischief in Third Degree - an E felony under New York State Penal Law.

Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to jail for processing. The victim's son is expected to face additional charges related to his actions at the scene.

The New Rochelle Police Department has commended its officers for their swift response and handling of this violent altercation. They have also reminded residents that violence will not be tolerated within their community.

The names of those involved have not been released, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the New Rochelle Police Department.
