~ New Rochelle, NY - For the second year in a row, the City of New Rochelle is bringing the magic of outdoor skating to Lincoln Park for mid-winter vacation week. This year, the park will feature a giant pop-up synthetic rink that is three times the size of the popular rink at the Holiday Market. The rink will be open daily from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM for eight days, starting on February 15 and ending on February 22, 2025.

Guests can enjoy free skating with rentals provided at no charge. Additionally, the first 100 visitors each day will receive a complimentary cup of hot chocolate upon entry. This event is made possible by District 3 Council Member David Peters, who first proposed the idea to the City Council back in 2023.

Peters expressed his excitement for this event and encouraged residents to take a break from their daily routines and enjoy some quality time with family and friends. "Once again we gather together on this sacred ground known today as Lincoln Park to build and maintain community life," said Peters.

City Manager Will Melendez also shared his enthusiasm for this event, stating that it will be a great opportunity for families to have fun and get some exercise during winter break. "We're excited for this dynamic pop-event of iceless skating on a safe synthetic surface in the Lincoln corridor to be enjoyed by residents and families citywide while our schools are closed for February break," said Melendez.

The Lincoln Park Skating Rink will be open from February 15-22, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, weather permitting. To make transportation easier for visitors, CircuitNR, the City's free electric shuttle service, will provide rides within the designated service area. Free on-street parking is also available around Lincoln Park.

For those looking to refuel after some skating, a local food truck will be on-site serving up warm and delicious bites to keep the energy high and the fun going. This event is just one of many recreational activities and public programs that the City of New Rochelle hosts throughout the year. These events aim to create a shared sense of identity, celebrate diversity, and strengthen community bonds.

To stay updated on rink hours and other city-wide events, follow The City of New Rochelle on social media at Facebook/CityofNewRochelle, X/NewRochelleNY, and IG/NewRochelleNY. Please note that the skating rink is outdoor and weather dependent. Any closures or delays due to inclement conditions will be posted on the City's social media channels.

Don't miss out on this exciting winter break event at Lincoln Park! Come out with your family and friends for some free skating, music, hot chocolate, and delicious food from the daily food truck. Let's make this winter break one to remember in the spirit of community and fun.
