On November 7, 2024, a 19-year-old man was arrested by the New Rochelle Police Department in connection to the assault of a 13-year-old girl. The arrest came after an investigation was launched when the victim, who was highly intoxicated, reported that she may have been sexually assaulted and was transported to the hospital.
According to police reports, detectives immediately began their investigation upon receiving the report. Through their investigation, they were able to confirm that a crime had indeed occurred. The suspect, later identified as Joey Valencia, had provided alcohol to the victim who was only 13 years old.
In an effort to gather more evidence against Valencia, detectives posed as the victim and engaged in communication with him. During these interactions, it was made clear to Valencia that the victim was only 13 years old. Despite this knowledge, Valencia continued to express interest in meeting up with her again, further implicating himself in the criminal activity.
