~ New Rochelle, NY- As a winter storm approaches the area, NewRoAlert has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the city. The warning is in effect starting tomorrow morning and will bring accumulating snow and gusty winds.
For the safety of residents, officials are urging people to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. In preparation for the snow, residents are advised to park their cars off-street if possible to make room for plows.
As an alternative, free parking will be available at New Roc City starting today at 7:00pm until Tuesday at 7:00pm. Trash collection in the South End will still take place tomorrow but will begin one hour earlier at 6:00am. Residents are reminded to place their materials curbside tonight.

Public Works crews will be salting roads this evening and plowing as snow accumulates. In case of power outages, residents are advised to contact Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED or visit www.coned.com. Any downed trees or power lines should be reported to the New Rochelle Police at 914-654-2300.
After the storm passes, residents are asked to clear sidewalks and fire hydrants near their property. When digging out cars, it is important not to throw snow back into the street.
