~ New Rochelle, NY- The City of New Rochelle's annual "Taste of Union Avenue" festival returned for its third year on July 27, 2024. The free event celebrates the vibrant Latin community in New Rochelle by showcasing local restaurants and small businesses for residents and visitors to enjoy.
The festival offers a unique opportunity for people of all backgrounds to experience the rich culture and diverse cuisines of Latin America while embracing the community spirit that defines New Rochelle. This year's event brought a fresh energy to the city with a lively lineup of participating restaurants and small businesses from the Union Avenue community. Guests were treated to an array of exciting new flavors, artist-made goods and crafts, live music, and fun activities suitable for all ages.
"We are honored to be able to showcase and honor the Hispanic community of New Rochelle each year with our 'Taste of Union Avenue' festival," said Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert. "This event highlights Hispanic business owners, artists, chefs, and creatives and allows them to share their heritage with our entire city."
Council Member Martha Lopez, who also serves as Westchester County's Director of Minority & Women-Owned Business Development, added that Union Avenue is one of the vibrant neighborhoods that define New Rochelle. She emphasized how this thriving community benefits not only economically but also by providing a sense of home for the city's one-third Hispanic population.

Visitors at "Taste of Union Avenue" were treated to live musical performances from various Latino artists such as Banda Norteña, Mariachi + Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata, Pop Latino, and DJ Fuego. Families and visitors of all ages could also enjoy interactive activities like children's games and arts and crafts for seniors. To make transportation easier for attendees, CircuitNR provided free transportation to and from the New Rochelle Transit Center.
