~ Yonkers, NY - The City of Yonkers is gearing up for its annual Marathon Day on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Mayor Mike Spano announced today that registration is now open for the 97th Yonkers Marathon, as well as the Half Marathon and 5K races. All three races will start at 8:00 AM from the Yonkers Riverfront Library on the scenic Yonkers Waterfront.
Runners can register for any of the races at www.YonkersNY.gov. According to Mayor Spano, the city welcomes thousands of runners each year and is excited to showcase its beauty and history through this event. He also acknowledged that while the hilly course may be a challenge, it is worth it for the dedicated athletes who participate.

Parks Commissioner Steve Sansone also expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming marathon, calling it a celebration of motivation, dedication, and commitment to the sport of running. He encouraged everyone to either run, volunteer or simply come out and support the participants.
The Yonkers Marathon holds a special place in the city's traditions as it is the second oldest marathon in the country. It is also certified by USA Track & Field and serves as a qualifying race for the prestigious Boston Marathon.
