~ Rochester Mayor Malik D. Evans has announced a new grant program aimed at revitalizing the city's Main Street. The Re:Main Grant Program will provide $2 million in funding to support the rehabilitation and renovation of vacant properties in Downtown Rochester.
According to Mayor Evans, Main Street is a source of pride for any city center, but there is still work to be done. The Re:Main Grant Program aims to eliminate blight and attract new businesses and tenants to currently vacant or substantially vacant properties along Main Street.
The program will provide gap financing to property owners and developers for major investments in projects that meet certain criteria. Eligible buildings must be located along Main Street from West Broad Street to North Clinton Avenue, and projects must have a total development cost of at least $1 million.

The maximum grant amount will not exceed 25% of the total project cost, and projects will be selected on a rolling basis until all funds are allocated. Selection will be based on project feasibility and readiness, secured project financing, and the owner must obtain a Certificate of Occupancy by October 1, 2029.
Priority will also be given to projects that demonstrate compliance with Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) goals and are in compliance with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
Mayor Evans believes that this program will not only help restore pride in Main Street but also provide visitors with a more positive experience in Downtown neighborhoods. He encourages interested parties to learn more about the Re:Main Grant Program and its requirements.
For any questions about the program, individuals can email Anne DaSilva Tella at Anne.DaSilvaTella@CityofRochester.Gov. The City of Rochester is excited about this opportunity to revitalize Main Street and looks forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the community.
