~ Rochester residents can now easily recycle their holiday trees thanks to the City's Tree Recycling and Materials Give Back Programs. From now until the end of January, citizens can drop off their trees at one of four designated locations or leave them curbside on their designated refuse and recycling day.
The trees will be chipped and the resulting mulch will be made available to the public at no cost through the Materials Give Back Program. This program, located at the City's Solid Waste Collection Facility on Ferrano Street near Colfax Street, offers compost, wood chips, scrap lumber pieces, and chip stone for use in landscaping, buildable fill, or other improvement projects.

Residents can bring their trees to one of four locations for recycling: Genesee Valley Park tennis courts at the Genesee Street Extension, Cobbs Hill Park's Lake Riley Lodge east parking lot, Norton Village R-Center parking lot opposite 341 Waring Rd., or Estes Street opposite Abbott's Ice Cream parking lot. It is important to note that trees should not be bagged and all ornaments, decorations, and lights must be removed before dropping them off.
The Give Back Center is open seasonally each year from the first Monday in April through the end of December. During this time, it is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information on both programs, residents can visit www.cityofrochester.gov/treerecycle. Help keep Rochester green by participating in these convenient and environmentally-friendly initiatives.
