Rochester: International Plaza Celebrates Dominican Day

~ Rochester, NY- This Sunday, August 11, 2024, the International Plaza Market will be celebrating Dominican Day with a variety of cultural festivities. The event will take place from 12 to 5 p.m. at 828 N. Clinton Ave and is open to the public.

The theme for this year's Dominican Day is "Baseball Fever," honoring the Dominican Republic's love for the sport and their contributions to Major League Baseball. A special exhibition will showcase Dominican players who have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. Attendees are encouraged to show their team spirit by wearing their favorite baseball gear.

The event will feature live music by Joel Insuperable and Banda Light, as well as performances by DTP, DJ Bonitillo, DJ Max, DJ Rubio, El Chuchi, Bohio Flow Dance, and Ara'guaco Dance Academy. Children's activities and domino tournaments will also be available for entertainment.

Free parking and shuttle service will be provided at Dr. Martin Luther King School parking lot #9 located at 485 N. Clinton Ave. The International Plaza Market is a collaboration between the City of Rochester and the Ibero American Development Corporation. It aims to showcase global cuisine, culture, and heritage through a variety of food vendors, merchandise stands, and entertainment.

Aside from Market Sundays, the International Plaza is also open for lunch on Wednesdays through Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. The market season runs until October 13th.

Vendors interested in participating can rent a space starting at $20 per week with discounts available for multiple weeks or for the entire season.
