~ Mayor Malik D. Evans, along with City leaders, State representatives, local stakeholders, and members of the design and construction teams, gathered today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Aqueduct District Street Improvements in Downtown Rochester.
The $3.1 million project, a key component of the ROC The Riverway initiative, has transformed the revitalized Aqueduct District into a pedestrian-friendly destination while still preserving vehicle access. This project reflects the broader vision of the Aqueduct Reimagined and Riverfront Promenades plan.
During the ceremony, Mayor Evans expressed his excitement about the transformation of the once bustling heart of Rochester's Erie Canal history. He stated that with the newly renovated Constellation Brands headquarters anchoring this space, they are reconnecting with their natural and historic roots to build a bright future. Mayor Evans also thanked Governor Kathy Hochul for her leadership and commitment to this project, stating that it is a powerful example of what can be achieved when working together with shared vision and strong partnerships.
