'Solar Punks' – The Award-Winning Animated Series from The Aspen Institute's Planet Media Call for Pitches – is Coming to Life with Lindsey Owen, Industrial Brothers, and Global Tinker
NEW YORK - Nyenta -- 'Solar Punks', the eco-animated series and award winner in The Aspen Institute's Planet Media Call for Pitches, is being brought to life through a dynamic collaboration between children's media creator Lindsey Owen, animation studio Industrial Brothers, and Global Tinker, a learning and impact media company. The series blends adventure, environmental stewardship, and real-world learning in a way that's both fresh and deeply engaging.
'Solar Punks' follows three best friends from a sustainable future who run a mobile fix-it shop. They travel back in time to help today's kids solve environmental challenges with eco-friendly solutions, empowering young audiences to make a difference in their communities.
"Kids increasingly need opportunities to understand and process our changing climate," said Laura Schifter, Senior Fellow with This Is Planet Ed at the Aspen Institute. "'Solar Punks' offers kids an engaging and hopeful way to learn about the world and what they can do to make a difference."

Owen, known for her work on series including 'Bubble Guppies' and 'Star Wars: Galactic Pals', brings her vision to this project, ensuring 'Solar Punks' resonates with young audiences while addressing the urgent need for climate education. "Climate change is a huge worry for kids today, and all the hopeless messaging around the state of our planet doesn't help! I want 'Solar Punks' to help kids face tomorrow with excitement, not fear, knowing that they have the tools to usher in a brighter future," said Owen.
Global Tinker sees 'Solar Punks' as more than just an animated series. "This isn't just about entertainment; it's about creating a global transmedia experience that authentically engages kids and their communities. 'Solar Punks' aims to set a new standard in children's media by creating authentically educational and fun content that captivates and inspires real-world change." said Olivia Korchagin, Co-founder and Producer at Global Tinker.
As 'Solar Punks' progresses in production, this partnership promises to deliver an animated series that sets a new standard for how media can inspire real-world change.
