SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY - SRFF2026 submissions opened May 1st and continue the Early Bird specials through June 14, with a new category added as solo films.
NEW YORK - Nyenta -- Submissions for the 13th Edition of the SR Socially Relevant™ Film Festival Official Selection opened on Thursday. The Early Bird specials extend through June 14, when the regular submission period kicks in.
The SRFF 2026 Competition Categories are Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Short, Rejoice Resist: BIPOC Films and Filmmakers, and scriptwriting. A new category of solo films, meaning with one actor, comes to complete the categories this year.
Press and media accreditations and sponsorships are available on the website. The festival's YouTube channel has trailers and posts live interviews from Meet the Filmmakers sessions.
"Twelve years have sped by. We are proud to have had the opportunity to present over 750 socially relevant films from 40 countries and are looking forward to a new slate of films for March 2026. The work of talented and dedicated filmmakers has offered us the bonus of learning about the human condition and filmmaking while engaging with an audience as a first step toward raising awareness of social issues." Festival Founding Artistic Director Nora Armani.

This new edition addresses Aging, Art and healing, Climate Change, Disability, Healthcare, LGBTQ, Memory and Identity, The Prison System, Women, Voices of Canada, and solo films, which could be stage productions filmed cinematographically or actual films with one protagonist. Quite a challenge, but we have seen good ones, so now we are creating a special category.
SRFF was founded by Actress/ Filmmaker Nora Armani in 2013 in response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling in media and entertainment.
