NEW YORK, June 21, 2024 ~ New York City is gearing up to celebrate the achievements of women of color in fundraising and philanthropy during WOC Week, organized by Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy (WOC)®. The community celebration, taking place from June 24 to June 28, will culminate in the presentation of the fourth annual WOC Awards.
Founded by Yolanda F. Johnson, President and CEO of YFJ Consulting LLC, WOC is dedicated to building a community for women of color from all backgrounds in the nonprofit sector. With a focus on personal and professional development, WOC serves 5 regions, 38 states, and 4 countries in the NYC metro area.
The highlight of WOC Week will be the WOC Awards NYC event on Wednesday, June 26 at The Players. This year's event will honor three exceptional women of color leaders in fundraising and philanthropy with the presentation of three awards. Sara Lomelin, CEO of Philanthropy Together, will receive the WOC Award for Excellence; Hera Javaid, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at City University of New York School of Law, will be presented with the Shine Award; and Aditi Sharma, a philanthropy professional, will receive the Spotlight Award.

The event is made possible by generous sponsors including CCS Fundraising, Boyden, Fidelity Charitable Catalyst Fund, Huron | GG+A Global, Howe-Lewis International, and Lindauer.
Yolanda F. Johnson herself is a trailblazer in fundraising and philanthropy as well as an advocate for inclusive philanthropy. In addition to advising philanthropists on where to direct their resources through her consulting firm YFJ Philanthropies, she also personally gives back to causes supporting racial and gender equity, disabilities and the arts. With a background as a performing artist and educator, Johnson has become a sought-after expert in fundraising and philanthropy.
