Yonkers Mayor Spano Statement on the Passing of his Mother Josephine Spano

~ Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and his family announced the passing of his mother, Josephine Spano, 89, on December 6, 2023. In a statement released by the family, Mayor Spano said that his mother was the strongest woman he had ever known and that she had dedicated her life to her 16 children. He also said that she was the matriarch of their family and placed her foundation in faith.

Mrs. Spano was married to Leonard N. Spano for 66 years and was the mother of Nicholas, John, MariaElena, Eleanore, Leonard, Joanne, Rosemarie, Camille, Michael, Victoria, Anthony, Dolores, Loretta, Gerard, Joseph and Vincent. Visitation will be held at Sinatra Memorial Home on Thursday and Friday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm followed by a funeral mass at St. Peter's Church on Saturday at 9:00 am with final resting place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Mayor Spano concluded his statement saying that what gives him comfort is knowing that his mother is now reunited with his father forever as their guardian angels and that they will always strive to make her proud and keep her in their hearts always.
