~ Yonkers Police Department Makes Arrest in Mount Carmel Place Homicide
The Yonkers Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the early morning shooting on Mount Carmel Place that resulted in the death of a 51-year-old man. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Ludvin RAMOS-CERVANTES, has been charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 5:00 AM on February 26, 2024. The police received a report of a male injured in a vehicle near Willow Street and Mount Carmel Place. Mayor Mike Spano expressed his condolences to Gordillo's friends and family and commended the Yonkers Police Department for their swift action in making an arrest. "We don't want to see anyone lose their lives to violence, especially in our City," he stated.
Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza also praised the detectives for their hard work in apprehending the suspect and bringing justice for Gordillo's death. "Regardless of the severity of a dispute, escalating the situation by introducing a weapon and resorting to violence is never acceptable," he said.
RAMOS-CERVANTES was apprehended later that day and has been charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree. The case is being prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
It is important to note that the charges against RAMOS-CERVANTES are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
